Biggest home sales reduction in 40 years?!?

By

Based on a report from the Associated Press there was a 17% reduction of home sales for the month of December. Apparently no one was giving Huntington Beach homes for Christmas gifts.  Now 17% may not mean much to you but listen to this: this is the biggest reduction in home sales in 40 years! The last time there was a reduction like this some whites in the south were still fighting to keep segregation and Janice Joplin ended her rough life of rock and roll.

There are lots of factors related to the situation we’re in now, here are just a couple:

  • The Home buyer tax credit incentive was supposed to end in November forcing a race to the finish if you will.
  • The Fed is buying mortgage backed securities, falsely keeping interest rates down

Interest rates should be going back up after March when the Fed ends it’s program and all this adds up to a great situation for buyers. Between the low interest rates(for now) and the reduction in home sales you should really start seeing some great homes for sale in Huntington beach at a bargain. Is your home for sale in Huntington Beach? You may want to try to get your place sold before interest rates go back up and your buyer’s buying power is reduced. Let’s hope we don’t see that kind of drop for another 40 years! Check out http://www.dixonteamoc.com for more info.

We simply have no housing inventory for sale in our area. San Ramon CA has 1 month of inventory overall, 1 week of inventory in some price bands.

It is an unusual market with low inventory.  I believe you cannot stimulate a consumer who has no money.  Thus the low inventory and the low price.

I hear more foreclosures will be released soon.  Home sellers must be holding off due to lack of buyers.
