Wow! There was a flurry of posting activity as the competition heated up and contestants got there articles in just before the deadline last Friday at Midnite (PST).

Before we announce the 1st Round Winners, allow me to briefly recap:

Mission Statement:   The ActiveRain "Carnival of Content" is a twice monthly contest to challenge, encourage and foster better and improved quality writing from among our membership.

This contest will accomplish two goals:

  • provide greater quality articles of enhanced value for Localism/Consumers
  • provide excellent examples of what constitutes good blog writing for our members

This week's contest was specifically for Real Estate Agents/Brokers. The 2nd Round (July 23rd thru July 27th) will be for Mortgage Lenders/Officers. Then the 3rd Round is for Staging Professionals. It is our intention to offer contests that will encourage/challenge improved writing from all the various categories of ActiveRain membership.

The contestants for our 1st Round, Real Estate Agents/Brokers, had to write an article on the topic/subject "Best Advice/Tips for Buyers or Sellers in a Slowing Market."

You can read the rest of the contest rules and criteria by going here.

The Prizes

No contest is complete without prizes.

  • All winning articles will get 'Featured' on the Blog Dashboard.
  • Points - 1000 points will be awarded for 1st Place; 750 points for 2nd Place; and 500 points for 3rd Place.
  • The winning articles will also get published on SoundBiteBlog.com.
  • There is a good chance the winning articles will make it into the "Week In Review" for Monday the 16th!

The Judges

The distinguished panel judges for Round One were selected from among our ranks. They included Carole Cohen, Leigh Brown, Donna Harris, Jay & Monika McGillicuddy, Linda Davis, Chris Elizabeth Griffith, Tim Maitski, and Gena Riede.

Kudos to Rich and the Judges...and of course the writers.  AMAZING!!  EXCELLENT!!!  AWESOME!!!  And you know I don't CAP it if I don't MEAN it.  Fabulous from start to finish!

I liked Thesa's the best, mainly because it played out of local area.  But also because it answered "my beef".  You can give advices without mentioning "slow market".  Sometimes I'm too literal.  Most times I'm just looking for the low point.  Occupational hazard.  I'm always looking for a home's defects while the buyer looks at strengths.  My auto-pilot goes to "what's wrong with this".

The end result of Rich's idea?  What's wrong with it?  NOTHING!!  SIMPLY MAHVELOUS!!!
