Harford County Maryland Attracts More Jobs

Bob's Discount Furniture will open a Mid-Atlantic distribution center in Perryman later this year. The announcement was made at the annual reception in Annapolis hosted by The Greater Harford Committee and the Harford County Chamber of Commerce.

"Bob's Discount Furniture has chosen Harford County to base their Mid-Atlantic distribution center and we are proud to welcome them to our business community," said County Executive Craig in a release. "Our proximity to I-95 and location between Virginia and New Jersey were key reasons for being selected by Bob's Discount Furniture for their distribution center," Craig stated.

Since 1991, Bob's Discount Furniture has provided affordable home furnishings and bedding. The company which first served customers in New England, now has 35 showrooms in seven states and continues to grow.

When Bob's Discount Furniture Mid-Atlantic distribution center opens in the summer of 2010, the facility will immediately employ 70 personnel and will eventually expand to approximately 200 jobs.

"Harford County's Enterprise Zone economic incentives, as well as income tax credits for job creation and a qualified, abundant labor supply were cited as significant factors in bringing Bob's Discount Furniture Mid-Atlantic distribution center to Harford County," stated Jim Richardson, Director of the Office of Economic Development for Harford County.
