OK real estate agents... Why should I hire you?

As a professional stager, and a real estate investor I know the importance of having the best agent out there when selling your home.

I see the frustration of so many of my clients who are not getting the attention they so desperately need to sell their homes in this challenging market. So many of them are ready to drop their current agent (that is if their contract is expired) and find someone who is really willing to work for them.

I believe it is important to interview several agents to compare how they propose to market your property and to see if their personality and manor mesh with yours. I am told however, that most sellers end up going with the first agent they meet with.

SOOOOO....what do you think are the top 5 questions a seller should ask a prospective listing agent, how should they respond, and what should make them run for the hills????

I see a lot of Realtors that advertise they are members of the Million Dollar Club. In 2005, that was pretty easy to do.  As a seller, I would ask how the agent's business was in the most recent year as well as the current year. Are they still a mover and shaker in today's market?

I also ask about designations because I believe that an agent that invests in themselves and their business through education shows they are committed to the real estate business.  I do this when I refer clients to agents out of my area.

Alphabet list are good as it shows they are serious about their profession.

Thanks, I hope to get some more good comments so I can compile a list to post.

Valerie-  I followed your link within your comments to Bill's post, so I think the list he provided gives great talking points for what to ask when interviewing agents.  I do agree that designations are important, as Michele noted.  However designations do not the great agent make.  If an agent got those designations years ago, but no longer continues to educate themselves beyond the required CE, the "alphabet list" is deceptive to a consumer.  I think you hit the nail on the head-"to see if their personality and manor mesh with yours."  That's most important!  Thanks for your post!
