AN ALERT FROM WACHOVIA!

By
Real Estate Agent with Lenn Harley, Homefinders.com, MD & VA Homes and Real Estate 303829;0225082372

JUST FOUND IN MY E-MAIL.

AN ALERT FROM WACHOVIA.

They noticed "more attempts to log into . . . . . . "

Mmmmm.  Since I don't have a Wachovia account, I can assume that it's a phony notice.

Further, they have blocked me from use of my debit/credit card.  O.K. FINE WITH ME.

Then it gets really interesting.  "please complete our security step as soon as possible to verify your identity"  Of course, this form wants my account number, my social security number, my mother's maiden name, my eye color, etc., etc.

You gotta love it.

What I loved most was the last line.

Wachovia Crad Services.

I wonder if "Crad" servicesare unique to Wachovia.

Frank. Indeed we do.

Claude.  They either don't speak English or don't have spell check.

Lisa.  I would imagine that folks with a Wichovia account might jump in.

Barbara.  I bank with three local banks.  Each of them have been trying to get me to bank online for years.  Thanks you no.  No way.

George.  BofA still has me at 11%.  I'll keep it for a while.

John.  Not funny when we consider the money these scams cost the Internet community annually.

Richard.  I believe it.  It costs all of us dearly in bandwidth if little else.

It is hilarious... Can't keep up with the spam email accounts... mark them as spam and tomorrow there will be a whole new wave of them.

The credit crad must be unique to them.

Too funny!  I don't think it's just bad spelling. I think more and more of this is coming from other countries and their English is horrible. I feel like my email box is being seriously attacked.

Lenn- I actually received a check in the mail for $3500 a couple of months ago.  With it was a very official looking letter telling me that I had won a lotto or something to that effect.  All I had to do was western union $3500 to cover some fee or tax, which of course they were including a check for, and they would then send me my winnings.  The check itself was real, however the account was not.  All I kept thinking was that some poor naive person was going to send the money.  Apparently once you deposit the "check" and Western Union the funds, the check bounces.

Good Morning Lenn,

I had a belly laugh at "Crad Services" . Too funny. That typo is a dead giveaway. I was thinking about this immediately after I read it. I do a spell check and it is good for.... Mostly I leave words out. What's worse is that I proof read and I still miss the fact that I am  reading a word that isn't there.

I found value in this besides the humor and the rip-off of identities. It was a good reminder that the bigger one gets in life, the less you can be forgiven for the simple stupid typos. And I guess that is as it should be. Otherwise what/who would we have to look up to?

Hi William.

I suspect that I decided long ago that the content is far more important than the form.  Which, of course, is why I am not exercised when I see a typo or spelling error on a blog post.

It is, after all, a blog post.

However, a scam/spammer pretending to be a major bank just might think about the form since the substance isn't something they want folks to focus on too closely.

It was obviously a typo.  It should have been "Wachovia Crud Services".

Hi Lenn, It does sort fit that they are armatures. We should have a site to send ( forward ) these e-mails to. I think some of them could be traced and discover some of the criminals that are behind this crap. An amateur scammer is a still most likley a professional crook.

Jane.  Good thinking.

William.  If there were, it would be government sponsored and funded and, therefore, totally innefectual and worthless.  Besides, if the perps made a political contribution, they'd get a pass.

Lenn,

It can be quite dangerous. Imagine people get a call that there is a suspicious activity on the card. They know your nemae, they know your social security number, they know your address, they know everything. However, they need to make sure they are talking to t he  right person, so all they need to kow is the security code.

So many people thought that they know everything, so they gave the security number, and that was the last piece of puzzle they needed to start using your money at will

Jon.

I don't believe they usually have the SS#.

Folks very generously give it to them in the form attached.
