Sometimes You Just Shake Your Head

I watched it happen this time.  Most of the time I don't catch it. The scream and cry is usually what alerts me that it has happened and I get there too late.  When I say I saw it.. I really don't know what I saw.  One minute my daughter was standing there and the next she was on the floor.  I am not sure how it happens and if it is my wife's side of the family or mine with this problem.  I am sure the legs just don't work well at 5 years old, but this time I just shook my head.  We need more carpet in the house if my daughter is going to end up being this accident prone.  I am sure it is not just my kids.  Maybe everyone goes through the stage that they just don't know how to work the feet and legs.  I am sure she will grow out of it.  Hopefully this will happen without any broken bones, scars or permanent brain damage.

This got me thinking today about my time in the military.  I remember in basic training when I shaved my head there were scars and dents that I am sure that my mother could tell me about if I asked.  Not things I remember (and not because it was a head injury) but I am sure she would.  I wonder if my father just shook his head and wondered what side of the family I got it from.

Seems we all go through this stage.  Not all of us get seriously hurt but we all have scars.  I have been running into quite a few people that have had their share of bumps and bruises with Realtors and the home buying process.  (You knew it was going to go here didn't you)  More than one person in the past few weeks has felt like they have been "taken" in one way or another.  Most of these individuals have learned valuable lessons and they will never get taken advantage of again.  Let me encourage those who have been in bad situations not to give up on trusting.  There are Realtors that have your best interest and do a great job in representing that interest.  Many of us have been doing this for years and have been through hundreds of transactions.

Every time I hear another story about a bad experience I just shake my head.  I have reasons why things could have happened but sometimes it just doesn't matter.  Sometimes it just takes a few bad apples in our business to make us all look bad.  That is true of many professions that people trust with their money.  It is a great responsibly to guide someone through the process of buying or selling a home.  You should always find out if an agent has experience selling or buying in the area you are looking in.  Has he done a short sale before or are you his or her first?  What is his or her track record in selling homes?  Are they members of the web sites that you expect to be seen on?  Do they do virtual tours? How much do they spend on advertising?   People who have been through bad situations have now learned to ask these and more questions.

I have picked up the pieces where others have dropped them.  I wish it didn't happen but I take satisfaction renewing clients trust in our business.  If I can help you give me a call.
