if you don't look good, we don't look good...

I had the privilege of seeing one of the most important modern homes in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Currently owned by hair impressario Vidal Sassoon, the Beverly Hills mid-century modern rests up a gated private drive that makes it ideal for a privacy seeking celeb.  Perhaps the most impressive fun fact about the home is that prior to Mr. Sassoon's owning it, it was owned by Her Royal Highness Princess Shams Pahlavi, the now deceased older sister of the last Shah of Iran, who covered the floors in purple shag carpeting.  The home is currently listed at a staggering $17,500,000.  The house needs a lot of updating, but it a truly remarkable home on a magnificent plot of land.  Designed by famed architect Hal Levitt, the home was originally built in 1962 and was, according to Your Mama over at Real Estalker, extensively renovated in the early 1990's.

I expect it to sell for far less than it's currently asking price, but it seems Mr. Sassoon has a habit of overpricing his properties, so we shall see....
