Are you workin' too hard? Might be time to watch some water boil . . . :-) #in

Have you ever watched water boil?

If you haven't, here's the recipe:

Grab a pot and fill it to @ an inch below the top with COLD water.

Put it on your stove on HIGH HEAT or over your campfire - NO lid.

Watch it carefully.

The old saying is that a watched pot never boils, so don't watch the pot . . . Watch the WATER!

I promise . . . It WILL boil!

The first thing you'll see is little bubbles forming on the bottom and one by one losing their grip and climbing to the surface where they pop.

Then more bubbles as the molecules in the water heat up and start moving around more.

Then more bubbles . . .

Then it starts getting exciting as MORE bubbles appear and start LEAPING to the surface.

Now's when the music starts playing as you HEAR this frenetic activity increasing.

The sound gets louder and LOUDER as the water gets hotter and hotter.

The water gets FRANTICALLY violent as it approaches a full scale boil.

It starts to splash over the side of the pot and begins to make a mess and jumps into the burner or fire causing even more excitement.

You're tempted to pull it off the heat because it's making such a mess . . .

. . . but you MUST leave it on or you'll miss the best part.

After what seems like an eternity, all of the molecules in the water suddenly figure things out.

They self-organize into what we affectionately call . . .

(Drum Roll)

"The Rolling Boil"

The sound decreases to a smooth, low tone.

The surface goes from frantic to a smooth churning of the water . . .

Lessons I have learned from watching water boil:

This is a representation of the cycle of my life.

FOCUS on what MATTERS - Watch the WATER, not the pot

Turn the heat on HIGH, otherwise I just end up with a pot of warm water - Not very exciting!

Have PATIENCE with myself as things heat up and self-organize towards the goal.

Preserve focus - Don't let the noise distract me . . . because it's just NOISE!

Persevere even when things get REALLY messy.

Don't succomb to the tempatation to turn down (or off) the heat just to avoid the messy part because I know that would be delaying realization of the prize . . . and I'd only have to endure the mess again later :-)

STOP STRUGGLING and trust the process.

When I get to a rolling boil, LEAVE THE HEAT ON!

and finally . . .

Keep adding water consistently, so it doesn't all evaporate away . . .

I think that's the "Lead Generate" component that includes ALWAYS keeping an eye open for new opportunities.

There now . . . that's the kind of stuff I do when I think too much . . . I watch water boil :-)

I'm just sayin'

Best,

b

Interesting analogy for lead generating.  Keep the heat on and have a great year!
