Diane has such insight and this is true in our business and personal lives!!

In the beginning of our marriage, i had a bad habit of pouring everything out of my mouth as soon as "My Husbo" would come in after a long day at work.   Being the gentleman that he is, he would hide his grimace over my inconsideration and thoughtlessness for not noticing he had hardly stepped his foot in the door!

I was so consumed with blabbing about what occurred in MY day, that it had not entered into my mind to WAIT until the man had at least come in, removed his outer clothing, and took a pee!!

What was i thinking??  Well, he'd just  smile while making his way to "his quarters", and say,

"HOLD WHATCHA GOT!"

I've matured since then....  WHAT does this have to do with Property Management in the Real Estate Industry?  Plenty!  For, HOW are we LISTENING if we are so busy rattling off at the mouth about... US?

Hold whatcha got, and find out FIRST what THEY have to say!  It very well may turn out that we will make decisions NOT to service the renter/investor/buyer/seller, AFTER we heard them out!  What WE have to say could be irrelevant! Let THEM spill it out, and....

  "HOLD WHATCHA GOT!"

Wallace:  Listening first is such a great idea.  If the poor guy gets bombarded as he comes through the door... sooner or later he will catch on... and stop walking thru that door.  Listen first, show how much you care, and how much you understand... and then perhaps start talking.

I totally agree * most prospects have viewed the property numerous times on the web so a SALES talk is probably not appropriate in most instances
