Happy Days are here aga.......................Not so Fast Mr Bourgault

I just got back from my ENT and I had really strong hopes that I could have my trach removed today. Both of my Oncologists had said that the last CAT scan was clear.

My ENT Dr agreed but wants to do 1 more biopsy on the 25^thof July to make 100% sure that the tumor is totally gone. He said that if he took the trach out today, he could not put another one in for at least 6 months so he wants to err on the side of caution for my own good.

It makes perfect sense, but none the less I am disappointed. I guess the hot dog will have to wait a little bit longer. Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. Aloha

Hi Bruce-- You will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers. I actually have stage IV breast cancer- tumors in my brain, lungs, bones, lymph nodes. The whole enchilada! I was recently told I was in remission...but I can relate to your dissapointment. I've had many on this journey. I can actually say "I know how you feel" and mean it.

Stay healthy and I will be thinking and praying for you.

Bruce, best wishes for your July 25 biopsy. Then you'll really be able to sing Happy Days!

Hi, Bruce. I heard a rumor that, until July 25th, there's a law in effect that prohibits ANYONE from eating hot dogs WITHOUT KETCHUP until July 25th. So, know that your hotdog will be as you like it on the 25th! I think that I read this in the New York Times. Maybe saw it on CNN. :)

Sorry you have to wait until July 25th for the biopsy. How many days after they do the biopsy will it take to get the results and then remove the Trach? We need to set that day aside to celebrate with you! Everyone can plan to have hot dogs for dinner that night!!! I know I will!

Sybil, Cynthia and Judi -- Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. The Dr said it would take about 2 days for the biopsy results. I plan to see him on Monday teh 30th and hopefully it will come out then. It will then take a week of healing before I dare to begin eating. THEN Hot Dog Look out!

Ok, so a week after the 30th is August 6th! Pick a day that week and we'll designate it as the Official AR/Bruce Bourgault Hot Dog Day! or something more creative! hehe HOT DOGS FOR EVERYONE!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!

Okay, that's a date! Sat. August 11th is the day! Once the biopsy is done, results are back and trach is out! You can post the announcement and the plan! Hot Dogs for everyone in AR on Sat. Aug. 11th to celebrate!

I'll keep you in my talks with the universe, Bruce and I will put that vegee hot dog I was going to have on the 25th in honour of you (thanks to Cynthia for this wonderful idea) on hold til you are able to have one too (well, the real McCoy that is !).

Hi, Bruce! I was about to post a comment to your blog, And you want my secret recipe. Then I noticed the date and wanted to know how your appointment went. So sorry to hear you have to wait a little longer for that hot dog, but at least the new was not bad news!
