If you're looking for a great way to build your database and meet the people in your farm plus give something back to the community, you might want to try a food drive.  Our Keller Williams office recently sponsored a neighborhood food drive.  This gave us an opportunity to "touch" our clients three times.  First we sent out a letter announcing the drive to our farms. If you do a monthly newsletter you can just add this information to your newsletter.  A few days before the food drive we delivered the KW grocery bags with a flyer attached explaining the drive.

You wouldn't believe the bags, overflowing with food, lined up along the streets!  People were so supportive and ran after us with more bags as we drove around.  We kept track of the addresses of the families that donated.  Everyone that gave were sent a hand written thank you note the following week and noted in Top Producer.  We all had great time, made a huge impression in our farm, plus got a little exercise and helped the local food bank.

Hi Tracey -- What a great idea and you provided a community service to. For those who are afraid of cold calling this would be a great way to turn a cold call into a warm one. Aloha

Hi Tracey, I love this idea! It's very human, puts you in touch with your target market and does a lot for a good cause as well. I love ideas like this... simple, elegant and what a great way to build good will in the neighborhood!

Fabulous idea! I love to see different ways to give back to our community while building a relationship with people in my area. Certainly provides a human touch and a great way to be remembered! LOVE the video!

Great idea! It helps you get recognized and you help the community. Did you use plain paper bags with the flyer stapled on - from groceries or can you buy them somewhere?

Tracey, great post and even better post.  I think this is what we are all about, and I am so impressed how this drive was handled.  Thank you for sharing with us.  I think I will look into this and see if this is something we might be able to do.  From a business stand point, it is wonderful, but for the right thing to do part of it, is even better,  We will be given back as much as we give out, so it is a win win situation, again thank you for sharing.  Bob

Bruce, Marti, Melissa, and Bob - Thanks so much for  your comments, we really had so much fun that day and when the truck came from the Rescue Mission the next day to pick up all those bags, the driver got teary when he walked in the office.  It really felt wonderful!

Sandra - Our office ordered those bags special.  They were white with the KW logo printed on them.  You probably can find them online or even get a local grocery store to donate bags if you're trying to keep the costs down.  Thanks for your comment.
