Today was one of those perfect summer days, the kind that you just want to revel in....I was fortunate enough to find myself with a 'flexible schedule' and decided to 'play hooky' and go to the beach. The tide had just come in when I arrived around 11 and if there were 6 people at the beach, that was a lot! I am fortunate to live in Northport, NY which is a small incorporated village on the north shore of Long Island. We have our own private beach and the town beach is right 'next door'.
As soon as I set up my chair and towel, I settled in with my copy of "The Secret", which I have owned for months now but never had the time to read. Today I managed to get through more than half of the book and what I read gave me plenty to think about, so I would take 'breaks' from my reading in order to digest fully what I had learned.
During one of those 'breaks', I looked out across the water and noticed a sailing regatta which was underway. Seeing all those boats together made me think of a 'mama duck' and her ducklings (I have no idea why, it just came to mind while I was watching!). I was mesmerized by the sight of all those majestic sailboats darting about the bay - it was truly the type of 'picture' you would find in a sailing promotion.
When I left the beach 4 1/2 hours later, the boats were still out there and the wind was picking up. I wondered if those sailing the vessels were tired and also how difficult it must be for them to work 'with' the wind. I also realized how blessed I am to live in such a wonderful area where you are never far from a beach, can get into one of the most exciting cities in the world in an hour, and have living history all around you.
I'm planning on doing the same thing tomorrow!
