Where are we going to build our nuclear plants ?

I thought it was very positive that Pres.Obama during the State of the Union , promised to start building nuclear power plants.

With a  future of more electric cars and  more and more electronics and  automation there will be an increased need for electric power.

I believe the "greenies" who want electric cars, have not yet considered the enormous changes that will bring to our electric power needs.

An electric car is not going to reduce  the total energy needs. I believe  that it is actually less efficient.

Wind and sun might deliver  maybe 5-10  % of the total needs if we plaster the US landscapes with wind mills and solar panels. The logic alternative is Nuclear and natural gas that we suddenly seem to have an abundance off.

Now comes the big question. Where are we going to build those Nuclear Power Plants. Obviously they need to be close to the users ,our biggest cities.

Unless we change the power structure in the USA and allow the Federal government to decide , excluding, by law, any legal infighting by  local and state governemnt ,and all pressure groups ,incl. environmentalists ,it will never happen.

I believe that is why Obama had no problem promissing it. He knows that many of his supporters do not want it.

Who volonteers for a nuke plant in his back yard? If there are volunteers lets give them the subsidies that we now waste on the ethanol plants, the solar panels and the wind farms. None of those would be installed without the subsidies. These will never be able to compete with Nuclear  power (based on present technology ).
