Cheryl, I'm all too aware of how ignorant people are about copyright and how readily they will steal. Perhaps the most outrageous thing that has ever happened to me was recently when my former sales representative, Advanced Access and Point2Agent VA Cherie Young,  placed 11 of my Web site designs in her Web site portfolio as if she had designed them herself, a blatant violation of my copyright in these works. If I had sued her, she could have been liable for statutory damages as high as $30,000 to $150,000 for each of the 11 violations. Her pockets aren't deep enough to make a lawsuit worthwhile, however, so I used the takedown provisions in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to get access to those pages blocked by her Web host.
