I know that when most people talk about the Power of ActiveRain, they are usually talking about search engine returns, Google, the Internet, the World Wide Web, web sites, etc. All the technology that goes into all that.
There's another part of the Power of ActiveRain that I think is just as important, and that's the people that make up this community.
I've only been an active member since August 2008, but I can count numerous people whom I would call friends: Jane Grant, Al and Peggy Cunningham, Sally and David Hanson, Christine Donovan, Vegas Bob, Peg Silloway, and many, many more. In fact, if the next time I have to travel, part of my plans would be to log in to ActiveRain and find out which people I could call on, perhaps have a meal with, and maybe even go to a tourist trap together, or at least get some touring tips from them for their cities.
Along with the newfound friends whom I know only from their pictures and their blogs, there is the information here. I know I have benefitted from the information in many of the blogs here, and I hope some people have benefited from my blog, maybe even using my Open House Survivor Kit.
I learned about Peg Silloway's book, The Cat Lover's Book of Days, which every cat lover should have, and with our most recent order (we have bought six books and Russel just won another copy from Talkin' Pets Radio — we give them as gifts; that's how good it is).
Our most recent order from Peg also included a piece of chocolate. We initially mistook it as a refrigerator magnet because it looked like the front cover of the book. However, it was chocolate, and very good tasting chocolate. And that's what brings me to my final point about the Power of ActiveRain: The little tools that we learn about that can help us differentiate ourselves from our competition (as long as they don't join ActiveRain ☺).
In this case, the chocolate came from The Chocolate Publishing Company. Check them out. They have all sorts of goodies that you can use for closing gifts of marketing. In fact, look at their chocolate mega bar. You can personalize it and many of their other gifts. Imagine having your business card or your Client's house on a chocolate bar. Of course, if you do your business card, you'd have to give them a real card, too, so that they don't eat and forget your contact information! ☺☻☻☺
