APPLE Inc is  NUMBER ONE in Mobile Devices- and MORE! Check Out The New iPad®!

Steve Jobs is not just our vote for man of the year in 2009 but the man of the decade!

The Wallstreet Journal made a statement, "The last time there was this much excitement about a tablet, it was the ten commandments."

In 1991, Apple invented the first laptop. It was priced at $6,500 and weighed 15.8 pounds! Here is a photo of it, courtesy of BusinessWeek:

first Macintosh laptop 1991

In 2007, Apple reinvented the phone with the Iphone®.

Apple's think tank was doing research to figure out if there was anything in the middle that was needed in the marketplace between the Iphone® and the Macbookpro®- the laptop. Is there a product that can be in the middle of the laptop and the smartphone?

Before we check out the new iPad®- which I am already a fan of and put it on my birthday with list and handed that list to Nestor yesterday- let's go over some of the most amazing stats regarding Apple:

  • Apple started selling iPods® in 2001 and just a few days ago they sold the 250,000,000th IPod! 250 million iPods®! I know we were among those as we bought and iPod® touch for our 7 year old for Christmas.
  • Apple opened the 284th store. It was in New York City. The photo of the store here is credited to Apple. This is also the 4th store in New York! The new store was packed on opening day!
  • Apple celebrated 50,000,000 visitors to the Apple stores in ONE QUARTER! I can tell you that when the rest of the mall in Wellington Florida is dead- the Apple store is buzzing with people. There is never a time during the day where our Apple store is not full of visitors!
  • There are 140,0000 APPS in the Apple App Online Store.
  • Apple started their App store 18 months ago and last month 3 BILLION Apps had been downloaded from the Apple App store!
  • Steve Jobs started Apple in 1976 and in 2010 the first quarter stands at 15.6 BILLION DOLLARS! Even Steve could not believe this figure!
  • Apple is now an OVER 50 BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY!!!!!
  • Apples' number one seller is their Ipod®, then iPhones®, then Mac® laptops.
  • Apple is the number ONE company in Mobile devices!
  • Apple Revenue is the largest in the ENTIRE WORLD in regards to mobile devices.
  • Apple's Revenue is more than Sony! More than Samsung! And EVEN MORE THAN NOKIA!!!!! Now that really makes an impression!

After all these out of the world successes their customer service, their tech support and their focus on the consumer is second to none! They are number one in that area as far as we are concerned.
We can call the tech department by setting up a call on line and our phone rings within seconds of us saying we need a question answered!

Check out the video here of the keynote where Steve Jobs introduces the new iPad®.

Now, let's look at this dream iPad®!

I love it already! It is NOT a Netbook. You can watch the keynote address to find out the reasons it is NOT a Netbook. Steve explains it better than I can.

The new iPad® is a browsing dream. At only 1.5 pounds and 1/2 inch thin-it is a multi touch powerhouse.
The iPad® has a 9.7" display, 1 G Apple A4 Chip and you can upgrade to 64 GB and also upgrade to 3G. It comes with WIFI. Photos courtesy of Apple Inc.

APPLE IPAD®

One of the best features is the battery! Apple had figured out a way in this lighweight iPad® to get 10 hours of battery time. That means, as Steve Jobs says, You can get on a plane in San Francisco, fly to Tokyo and watch movies on your iPad® all the way there on one battery charge. That is amazing!

What I love about the iPad® is that you can browse the web in full screen without scrolling and comes with an almost full size keyboard! That is something I really want! My fingers have a hard time on the iPhone® and I have to have my glasses on the entire time. With the larger keyboard I won't have to pull out my glasses as often.

APPLE IPAD®

While a lot of the bloggers critiquing the Apple IPAD say that they think it is really a sit on the couch or easy chair type of home browser and large iPod®, I disagree.
When I saw how iWork® can be used with the iPad- the possibilities are endless in business user applications. It works great wtih Keynote®.

You can download and use the Apple Apps on the iPad®. App developers are busy tweaking their apps to work on this new size screen and many others are creating new Apps that will be specific for the iPad®.

iPhoto® is incredible on the iPad®. You can scroll through your images with just your finger. The iPhoto® features on the iPad® make this device a great tool for real estate agents.

The other applications that make this a dream for real estate agents is Keynote where you can do presentations, YouTube in HD and the Map application powered by Google.

I can't wait to get my hands on a new iPad®!

Katerina, I was listening to Kim Komando descrie the iPad today and tell everyone she's getting hers next week. She got a Mac last year and since then, she's a lot more savvy about Apple products. I want one, too!

Hi Katerina,

Of course I LOVE anything Apple.  Going to the Apple Store has become something I look forward to - and I'm not much of a shopper generally - so that's saying a lot.

I will eventually get an iPad.  I hope that at some point we can access the MLS on it!  Wouldn't that be great for our buyers if we are out with them and can access the MLS on something so small and easy to carry. Ok - I'm dreaming - but I'm allowed to dream, aren't I?

Katerina,  You have to hand it to Apple for coming out with this and all the hype -- but this is the first generation and I will probably wait for a more advanced model.  This one will not multitask, no camera yet, has no USB capabilities and only 16 GB of hard drive.  I would also love to see a writing feature for taking notes or getting signatures like I have on my HP tablet.  Apple usually comes out and appeals to the masses and then starts adding more features for the more sophisticated users.  I hope they do that soon.

P.S.  Thank you again for all your help in getting me going with Kompozer.  You are wonderful.

From the desk of David Dee,

Katerina, this is a great new product from Apple. I've never owned an Apple computer but this one looks great. As Gary stated, Apple tends to come out with a basic system and later add the more advanced features. That would be the thing to watch for! :D

Gary- I am ordering the 64 GB flash drive.

I am going to use this for reading books instead of getting the Kindle, I think I may not need the Kindle. Apple is trying to get some book deal with the publishers. The ibooks is really appealing to me.

We have macbook pro laptops, the iPhones and Nano and ipod, and the huge 27" screen new imacs which I do my movie editing and photo editing on that I am so in love with and watch movies in HD.

But I will use it mostly for keeping up with Facebook and run my Tweetdeck from so that I don't have to have those open on my laptop and desktop. It will make my multi tasking easier.

You are welcome about Kompozer. Glad you got it working for you!

Hi Nester and Katerina, I wrote a post about the tablet coming out and have been so busy I haven't been able to write the new post on the iPAD. I am so excited about this being a MAC user and I think it will become a great asset for Real Estate. It will be interesting to see how long it will take before the MLS 's get up to speed on having the service run on different platforms. Many of them have work arounds  but I think this will cause some new welcome changes, especially if a lot of RE professionals embrace it. A great post!

BTW, Apple also developed the first tablet. The "Newton". It didn't sell well then because it was ahead of it's time. But it is the right time now! I am registered to be notified when ready

Hi Katerina. Some Apple products are amazing. However I own a Creative Zen mp3 player since it has a flash drive and can jog with it. When people zig... I zag. I like Apple. I think it's an American success story but IMHO their products are too expensive. I like my Creative Zen and my Casio Exilim. I never was a "cool" kid *LOL* I put that money that I would buy on gadgets into my retirement instead... but kudos to Apple for churning out those products. ~ Lana

I was blown away when I watched Steve Jobs on the Apple Keynote say Apple was the biggest mobile device company, bigger than Nokia and Sony.

Looks like another win for Apple!!  So far looks like a good reader, can't wait to try one.  However will probably wait until the second or third version comes out, as David said, to get more of the goodies that Apple usually doesn't  put in the 1st version.

I was blown away at the financial and product sales stats also! APPLE is so far ahead of the curve. The innovation is amazing.

Lana- Many people say the price keeps them away but once you go to Mac you never go Back and then you discover what you have been missing:)

One of my brothers is in graphics design. He has had the same Mac since the early 1990's and just upgrades it. I can't begin to count how many PC's I have gone through since the 1990's! I think we bought new PCs for our biz every 2 to 3 years to keep up with the new technology.

My Nano cost me $179 and it is my favorite Video camera EVER! I never have an excuse not to have it with me, it weighs nothing at all, syncs and downloads video in seconds and then with one click to Youtube. I have already sold one of our listings because of the Nano. Well, worth the price for that:)

And that is just the beginning of my mac and apple story.

I'm thinking about getting an ipad but have a couple of questions.

Can I use it to write contracts on floridarealtors.org?

Thanks.
