   city of waukesha  The city of Waukesha is the county seat for Waukesha County, a short 20 minute drive west on I-94 from downtown Milwaukee.     One of Wisconsin larger cities, it has a population of 67,750, a median income of $53,670 and an average  home sale price of $228,422.  Even though it is only 20 minutes from Milwaukee, Waukesha has its own cultural the attractions which include the Waukesha Choral Union, the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra, the Civic Theatera and the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts.

   One of the city's "claim to fame" is the natural spring water that attracted tourists from everywhere. Notable visitors are said to have included Mrs. Abraham Lincoln and President Ulysses S. Grant.  As one of the fastest growing cities in the state, it has recently added a river walk and many new sub-divisions and condominiums.

    The school district includes four high schools, 3 middle and 17 elementary schools. Waukesha County's only Catholic high school, Catholic Memorial is located in Waukesha.

     The city also claims Morgan and Paul Hamm, olympians in gymnastics and musician Les Paul, known for his electric guitar and multi-track recording as native sons.
