Sellsius Blog Tour

Joe, Rudy and myself A day with Rudy, Joe, ( of Sellsius ) Maureen Francis and Black Tie Todd in Birmingham, MI was so much fun. We had a great time, Birmingham was in the midst of all the sidewalk sales so we walked down the street and Rudy with his video camera and Joe doing the interviewing........we stopped people on the street and asked them, if they were having fun? When we were able to engage them in a conversation we asked them if they knew what a blog was ?

Although NOT scientific by any means we were surprised how many people don't know what BLOGGING is. Those that did, most did not know that Realtors Blogged. Guess we are still far off from critical mass.

We did interview a kid who wanted to learn about flipping houses.

Maureen, Todd and myself shared while Rudy video-tapped where our business is coming from, do we do OPEN houses, what do we do to market on the internet and if we use print advertising or marketing.

It was really great to meet Maureen Francis, one of the Queens of blogging. Of course Todd and I know each other as we are both from Ann Arbor. I use Todd's company Big House Data to compile all my static's for the Washtenaw County Market.

We had a great time at lunch sharing idea's. They told us about all the places and great bloggers they have met on the Blog Tour and their reasons for the tour. They are going to be putting together a documentary and have over 145 hours of footage and they are only half way through the tour. Eating Lunch

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway.........when you meet people in person after knowing their online presence you feel like you have known them forever.

At one point they handed me the mic and I was interviewing people on the street. It was great fun ! I may try it at the Ann Arbor Art Fairs next week. Man, are people camera shy !

Joe and Rudy..........sorry I lost you on the way back. Maureen thanks for pulling this together even at the last minute. I know they will post more from their perspective and more pictures. They had a great time in Columbus, OH, but we did sing them the "Hail To The Victors" song, the University of Michigan Fight Song, off key but anyway, "Go Blue" ! Gosh, I hope they lose that part of the tape. We were accompied by Todd's cell phone.

Update: Rudy and Joe are behind in all their postings of the trip so they are allowing us to guest blog about Ann Arbor. Maureen is doing it now, and I will do it tomorrow. So if you want to read their blog on it go to Blog Tour USA.

I've been subscribing to their web site and blog for about 6 months so set up a RSS Feed to get it daily. Really good stuff !

It sounds like Ann Arbor, Michigan was the place to be! They will be in Denver next week and I will be there. I have lots to learn and plan on being a sponge.

Missy, sounds like you had fun. I'm going to have to see about detailing my RV to get a write off.

Hi Missy - you're so right about what it's like when you get to meet in person someone you've 'known' online for any amount of time - it is exactly like you've known them for years. Looks like you all had a great time, and what a neat opportunity you had!

Christina, we actually met in Birmingham, MI, which is about 49 minutes from Ann Arbor. It was fun !

Missy... besides Florida, was the east coast a diesase? lol I wish they would have made it closer to me. thanks for sharing this. And I can see that Leigh mentioned this also.

Great informtion, thanks so much. I especially liked your blog question survey. I'd like to try this myself. Actually I'd also like to try it among Realtors. As an aside, at a recent CRS event last week with about 55 people in the room we were asked who was blogging? Only about 5 or 6 hands went up. Four of us present were rainers. Although this question was slightly different, you would have expected more from this group.

Missy, if you weren't aware of the group, did you see the photos of our event in Worthington (my post) - it's in the BlogTourUSA group. You can see the key Rainers in this part of the country.

So, did Rudy play the song that Toby & I did in preparation for the trip to the "state up north". Like you, I hope that segment doesn't make public viewing. ;-)

Lynda, what an excellent idea. We have a Sales and Marketing Rally in Oct for Re/MAX of MIchigan and I am going to do it. What fun that will be in that crowd.

Elaine, we did not see it but we heard about it. Great pictures of you and Maureen. They had a great time in Columbus, even after getting lost and showing up at Real Living headquarters and not where the event was. We'll hope neither song makes the cut !! A disservice to both out colleges. Go Blue !

Missy.... thanks. I haven't looked at it, but from reading everyone's blogs, I don't think they made it over in this area.

I am sufficiently jealous - and my office is located in Birmingham. I feel like such a "newbie" right now as I had no idea that they were in Michigan. Somewhere I have heard of the Blog Tour USA but did not know really what it was. There is so much in the world of blogging and so little time - I don't know how you do it. It is probably just as well--I was at a new construction site in Oxford (I am commited to be there one afternoon a week) and, at the last minute, someone stopped by and it looks like I will be listing their home in Troy and selling them a new construction at that site. Did not know about the RE/MAX event in October and like the idea of Active Rainers at the Vegas convention. Thanks for the post.

Missy - thanks for sharing. I can't wait to attend the "Bloggers Connect coming to San Francisco at the end of the month. I hope to come back and share some stories from that event as well. Missy, This was a wonderful posts & I enjoyed looking at all the pictures. Maureen did an absolutely fabulous job of putting everything together at the last minute. I wish it had been possible to join you all & meet some of the best bloggers in the State!
