I am sooo serious. I hate fax machines. I don't own one and neither should you. Get an efax (or similar ) number already.

I don't have a fax number on my business card for one simple reason - I DON'T WANT YOU TO SEND ME A FAX.

Believe it or not I have email. Unless you don't there is no reason to be sending faxes. And if you don't I probably don't want to do business with you anyway.

Thank you for your time.

Thanks Paul, and one of these days maybe you can tell us what you really think. I prefer the e fax and e mail too. The old faxes just seem to float around the office too easily and are often misplaced. I much prefer having it in my control.

Wow! A fellow FAX hater. Good for you. We shifted to paperless a few years back, but I haven't had the courage to take my FAX number off of my cards. Efax rules!

I absolutely love my efax. It tickles me when I have to tell people not to bother about a cover sheet because they want to know why.

They still seem to act puzzled when I tell them it comes straight to my computer.

A fax is not a bad thing to have around as a back-up -- there are times that e-mail is on the fritz.

Yea, I'm not alone, Kim, Mark, Guy and Robert - and I bet a lot more.

The menus drive me nuts but at least I can delete - if they transmitted the send from number like they are supposed to I could trash them will my mail filters.

Hey, Mark go for it - take it off the card. If they want to fax make them work for it.

Scanners and pdf files rule - for me efax is   necessary for a transition to NO faxes.

Bob and Carolin,  if my email were on the fritz - I'd never get your fax.  I don't own a fax machine.

Besides - I don't recall my email being on the fritz.  When I had a fax machine it ran out of paper/or ink or had some other problem. And I had to BE where it was to get my fax.

There is no need for them to exist.

I agree!  Receiving a fax means that I have to be at a certain place at a certain time to pick up the fax that is probably just an 8.5x11 blur.

I started asking everyone (agents, clients, attorney's, lenders, etc.) to start sending me everything via email in hopes that I can eliminate my dedicated fax number some time this year.  I guess if I go ahead and eliminate the number, then they wouldn't have a choice :-)

I'd like to be able to eliminate the number all together but I'm not that brave.  I'm ok with efax and just getting rid of the machine.  It is a piece of hardware that should no longer be manufactured.

I dislike fax machines as well...efax or fax-thru-email is great.  But, I still keep my fax # on business cards - some out of area clients have fax machines at home, but no ability to scan 10 or 20 or more pages.

Good point Darla.  I don't put mine on my card though.  If they want to fax me they have to ask for the number.

Hi Paul, I suppose you will want to toss out your Commodore computer too.

We still use a fax machine.  Believe it or not, some attorneys have not yet grasped email.  Also, I think by using fax they can charge by the page.

Glen, It is hard to believe but I never had a C-64.  My first computer was an Apple. (and I'm NOT throwing it out!)

You are right about the attorneys.  They are the worst (except for the pizza joint faxing menus).

I'm a fax hater as well.  Can't read them.  Take too much time to send/receive.  Nevermind, waste of paper.  Go Green.  Get an efax or a scanner!!

I am so sorry we would never do any business because I am set in my ways and still own a fax. I will sell my 60 to 70 deals a year and hopefully I won't be bothering anyone that doesn't have a fax.

Joyce, most people that have ditched their fax machine can still receive them and can still send them via efax or a similar product.

When you receive a paper fax you have to take extra steps to forward it to someone (a client).  When we receive an efax we get it as a pdf file and just click forward.

If you are doing 60 to 70 transactions a year entirely via fax your life is way more complicated than it needs to be or you are paying someone that you don't really need to pay.

But hey, if you do that many on your own and don't use efax or something similar - stick with it. Anyone with efax can still get your fax and can still send a fax - we just don't need the machine (and paper) to do it.
