There Was A Morphine Ampule, Some Silk Thread, A Chocolate Bar For Behind Enemy Lines.

My dad AKA Buppy was tail gunner in a B-24.

And during the WW II early morning bomb run briefing, the nine guysmaine grandfather, me grand kids in his crew were issued a survival kit of sorts. For use if the four engine Army Air Force bomber was forced to make a landing, or worse was shot down.

In that leather pouch besides an ampule of morphine, the silk thread to sew your gash up yourself. Also packed in  to the mini survival kit was a chocolate bar for quick energy, a map of the area you army air corp member GI Joe was about to commence bombarding during daylight hours.

Oh and some silver certificate currency. The kind of money with a blue seal so if the freedom fighter from behind enemy lines wonders if the money is any good, or will only help you with some bills with a dead US president on it for guaranteed payment.

There were probably a few bible verses, some scripture in there to get you through feeling explosions, watching your burning plane go down. As your parachuted slowly in to the trees. Hoping that chute did not hang you up. Or that you did not a leg broken from the impact, an eye poked out with a tree limb.

In selling real estate, the days of just sinking a lawn sign, nailing your local brand on the front of a building or on a woodlot tree, lake cottage or mom & pop business listing are over. Your survival kit includes a blog that is hungry...and you feed it daily with a variety of "programming". Not just real estate, real estate, real estate. But a good healthy balance of local community events, FAQ videos on what your area is like. Your buyer is no longer just local. He or she knows little from skimpy on line offerings in the smaller rural American venues that dot the country. So you step up, upload images, videos, blog posts along with the varied selection of real estate you list, market, sell.

maine moose, summer pond mooseThe days before faxing contracts to the lawyers and banks, of using black and white poloroids for the local paper are over. The real estate conveyor belt has been sped up considerably. About 7500 rpm faster than back in the late 1970's when I got in to the real estate game.

Lace up your sneakers. You ain't seen nothing yet.

The buyer wants, demands, expects more images, video, details at right this instant. Drive thru quick and don't forget my fries or onion rings okay? You embrace it, or get jettisoned out of the building if you do not read, study, share and connect on line in the slew of creative ways available to everyone now. Most for free.

Social media options, forums, sites like Flickr and Youtube to put your home town, city on the map. Helping it show up on real estate radar. On line where 85% of the folks, including yourself, go to find any product, any service.
