Expired Marketing Tips: How to find the time to chase the expireds

Let me talk about a very important time management strategy today. It is what I call “blocking time.” That is when you set aside a certain amount of time every single day to do certain things. For example, I break up my day between generating business; closings, preparing for appointments, and administrative work; and then appointments.

I hear so many agents make the excuse that they can’t chase expireds or do more business because they are so “busy.” But they have time available during the day, right? Where did that time go? It’s called Murphy’s Law and I have experienced it first hand. Growing up, my mother always had stuff for us to do to keep up on the yard. I grew up on 16 acres in the country, and we mowed 6-7 of those acres. It took 7-8 hours to mow all that area. We usually mowed it about every week or two. The thing is, if we got the whole yard mowed, mother would give us other stuff to do during the day. She would have had us planting plants, pulling weeds, or doing other various jobs.

So, rather than getting all the mowing done in 1-2 days, we would do a little bit every single day. This way if we were lying around the house and she thought we should be doing something “productive” we could go to the chores that we already had to do. Anyways, this just goes to show a little bit how the crazy thing called a human brain works.

If we want to have a productive, consistent, steady business and income we have to do certain things every day. And the most important of those things is bringing in business. In order to get the necessary stuff done to bring in new business, I block a certain amount of time aside every day to generate new business. That is when I mail the expireds, make phone calls, and return calls. My time to do that is every morning from 8:30 to 10:00.

What is your time to bring in business? Have you got that scheduled every day? If not, sit down and schedule a certain amount of time every day (morning preferred) to bring in new business.

Great example of your chores growing up. If we don't block out the time needed for a specific task we won't have the time to do it.
