Lynda Petty, wife of 7-time NASCAR champ Richard Petty, has been diagnosed with nervous system lymphoma which is a type of cancerous brain tumor.
A press release issued by Richard Petty Motorsports indicates she is being treated at Duke Medical Center which is about 65 miles from the Pettys' home in Level Cross, NC.
Lynda had been having problems with her eyesight and now that the diagnoses has been confirmed it is expected that the CNS will respond favorably with radiotherapy or chemotherapy or both.
Richard Petty is expected to be present at Daytona Speed Weeks and will return to NC as the situation dictates.
