Note to Collen Kulikowski: What was the reason for Project Blogger?

Today, Colleen Kulikowski sent me a message about my feelings and thoughts now that Project Blogger was wrapping up.  I started to write her a response and after I wrote it, I figured it would be an appropriate post.  Here it is:

Colleen
So nice to hear from you.  Let's see how do I feel...all BS aside?
I'm glad it's over. I'm glad I was in it.  Blogging was on my to-do list for 6 mos.  I was lucky because I was fast-tracked through the learning curve.  I'm still amazed that this 'whole world' was out there that I didn't know existed.

It really was a lot of work and a huge undertaking.  As of 3/5/07, I had never blogged or read a blog or even heard of ActiveRain for that matter.

Though I wasn't given all the answers, I was pointed in the right direction to get the answers.  I was clued in on the blogosphere and how to become a part of it.

I'm sure I won't be an ARDELL, but I'm not supposed to be--nor did she want me to be.  I know a lot of people have 'issues' with her but I do have to say, she treated me really, really well.  I always accept people for who they are and not try to change them or try to make them think or be what I think they should think or be.

I'd like to thank everyone on AR for doing what they do, including you.  I'd like to give Caleb a huge shout out.  Caleb you're a trooper!
Caleb:  I'm sorry I was so annoying throughout---but please embrace me for me---I promise you there is more in me than 'piss and vinegar'.

I'm pretty sappy right now because it was such a great learning experience that constantly challenged me (almost to the point of being overwhelmed) to learn more, and for me, personally, Project Blogger was an incredible opportunity.

I'm not sure what the reason for Project Blogger was, but I do have to say that it spread the word on real estate blogging and social networking like wildfire (especially here in the Miami area); if that was an objective for the competition, it was a huge success!

To success!

I suspect there were a lot of reasons for Project Blogger. Much of it has to do with the kind of people the mentors and folks running PB are: they want to help, they want to share, they also like to see others improve. I think there has been a LOT of selflessness in this thing.

For Inman and Active Rain, it's also a great amount of publicity (I don't mean that cynically, but it's good PR). For the mentors or coaches, this has been a fantastic platform for their goods and services. Each one got a national audience - how cool is that? And for those of us who got to be apprentices, we got personal coaching and encouragement and guidance from our own dedicated mentors but also from the collective wisdom of the group. We too got a national audience and a chance to know and be known. Got a referral for Los Gatos or Silicon Valley? I hope people will think of me. Miami Condos? There's only one: Kevin!  Dayton? Teri. Rancho Santa Margarita? Kelly. Claremont? Tisza. Tampa? Jackie. And on and on. We all did well by this.

I wouldn't have missed it either.

Well said and Amen to both Kevin and Mary.

Wouldn't have missed, would do it again in a heartbeat. Anyone out there wondering if there is another PB- should they go for it? Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mary,

Tired and relieved are the words!  I hope by these comments ActiveRain and Inman really understand what transpired, because it would be a shame if they didn't!
