The snow just keeps coming, but for investors this maybe the right time to buy

In Sioux City IA we on average get 30" of snow fall.  As of the 5th of Feb we are now over 50" of snow with more on the way.  How does that effect the real estate market in Sioux City?  Yes it does slow everything down, but the big hit to the Sioux City Real estate market is the announcement of the closure of the John Morrell plant.  The closure will mean around 1,400 workers will lose there jobs plus several related suppliers will be forced to do likewise.
This may have its biggest impact on the rental market, in the short term.  But the number of homes that will go on the market will be something a wise investor will want to keep there eye on.  This spring & summer may be a golden opportunity to invest in a distressed property.

Ann Heitland is showing houses using snowshoes!  Unemployment is, in my opinion, the biggest factor in foreclosures. Next would be humongous medical bills throwing people into bankruptcy.
