I am not involved in politics but thought this very thought-proving. Maybe you will too

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of  Congress.  Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could  retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay  into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves   from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from   any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary   citizens must live under those laws.

The latest is to exempt  themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in   all of its forms.  Somehow, that doesn't seem logical.  We do not  have an elite that is above the law.  I truly don't care if they   are Democrat, Republican, Independent, Liberal or Conservative or   whatever.  The self-serving must stop.  This is a good way to do
that.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators  and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that
applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply  equally to the citizens of the United States ".

Janice, I always thought it disturbing that congresss did not have to hold themselves to the same standards as the rest of the country.  I think you're right, its time we take a look at what they are giving themselves, and taking from us.  Great thoughts, featured in Blatant Politics!

Terry, that's for featuring the post. It does seem to be an issue the media shuffles under the rug

The down side of this new Amendment would be Nancy could not spend all of that money on booze and food for her airplane.

Unfortunately, without a constitutional convention, I beleive that congress has to first pass the amendment and then it goes to the states. What are the chances of that?

This would be a great ammendment , saw this yesterday too! Fight on America...This Congress would not have the honesty to promote equality for all Washington and the Citizens.. I wish they would prove me wrong!

I love the idea but as unless you can get 2/3 of the current Congress to pass the amendment 1st you can't get it to the States for ratification. This puts the pressure back on us to throw the jerks out that are there now and get some people in that will actually represent us.
