WARNING! . . . . IF YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST COPY AND PASTE CONTENT THAT YOU DIDN'T WRITE TO YOUR ACTIVERAIN BLOG, THINK AGAIN. . . . ACTIVERAIN IS WATCHING YOU! . . . YES, YOU!

Lenn Harley provides a wealth of very valuable information regarding copyright and the use of text or images (photographs, charts, cartoons and illustrations) that you find on  Active Rain or elsewhere on the Internet.

In a nutshell, it is not OK to copy & paste ANYTHING you find on the Internet with out the orignal author's permission. EVERYTHING that is published in print or in electronic media (on a blog, on-line magazine, etc.) is copyrighted and owned by the original author or publisher. Using it without the author or copyright owner's permission is stealing: Its illegal and unethical.

I'm turning off comments here. If you'd like to comment, visit Lenn's orignal post

ACTIVERAIN IS WATCHING YOU!. . . .  YES, YOU!. . . . IF YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST COPY AND PASTE CONTENT THAT YOU DIDN'T WRITE TO YOUR ACTIVERAIN BLOG, THINK AGAIN. . . . YOU CAN'T HIDE!

IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN.  The incidence of ActiveRain posts that contain plagiarized content is still a problem.  Either members do not understand that to copy and paste content that they did not actually write is a violation of the ActiveRain Guidelines AND a violation of the copyright law, or they don't care and figure no one will notice.

NOT SO!  If you steal, yes steal, content from a search result on Google or from another ActiveRain post, you can't hide.

ActiveRain knows.

ActiveRain searches for content clearly copied and pasted from earlier published content.  It's not hard to do.  Since I have an ongoing interest in copyright, I get phone calls or e-mails from members about obvious plagiarized content.  While I'm not an ActiveRain employee and have no authority, there's nothing I can do.  It's just an interesting discussion.  For sure, the owner of the blog with the copied and pasted material is not held in high esteem.  Who knows what they see when they look in the mirror?????

Of course, if I find my copyright protected content published by someone else, I will handle it myself with a COMPLAINT FOR DAMAGES for COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.

Sooner or later. . . . . .

Yes, this is a PUBLIC post.  Some members may prefer to brush this matter under the rug.  That's just going to continue to enable folks who have no respect for the ActiveRain Guidelines or the Copyright Law.

Inspired by a thoughtful post by Jacob Clayton, it's time for an attitude change about copyright infringement.
Folks who have had their copyright protected content (any original writing, image, photo, video, etc.) copied and published by another person, usually have pretty typical reactions:

Sick to the stomach!
Disbelief!
Anger!
