Catonsville under 25+ inches of snow.

All the local news channels in the Baltimore area are eagerly awaiting to see if this major snow storm will top the record of 28.2 inches set in 2003.

WBAL TV, WJZ and ABC2 News are sending out their news reporters to convey the conditions across the area. They pretty much are all saying the same thing. "It's deep and wet, the roads are impassable and it's not going to stop for a while"

Frederick Road

Catonsville, just 10 miles from the center of Baltimore City is eerily quiet. Frederick Road, which is the main road through the area has hardly any traffic at all. The snow plough's have gone through and actually blocked most of the small roads.

Ships Cafe

Thankfully the "Ships Cafe" is not deterred by the weather. (Actually the owner has a power outage at home, so it is far warmer here) The bobcat has cleared the sidewalks and they are open for business.

Ships Cafe

After an invigorating walk down the main street we stopped by for some refreshments and a pile of tasty steamed shrimp covered in Old Bay.

Hey Ellie! I don't miss snow at all!  Left Wisconsin for AZ in 01 and haven't picked up a shovel since!!!  Good luck with that!

Hello Ellie, Snow seems to be the bigger conversation item on people's minds today as the East gets another big dose of the white stuff. Sitting in California in a ( cool) light drizzle of rain is certainly the more preferable place. Stay warm. Always remember, this too shall pass. The problem is that next year, it will be back in its same glory ( more or less). Glad I don't have to deal with it but it is beautiful to look at if one doesn't have to deal with it. :-)

Ellie, this has not been a good year for the Middle Atlantic area, you've gotten all the snow we usually get. Thanks

Holy Snow Ellie!!!  That's the most snow I have ever seen!  Lucky for you, you can walk to stuff.  We are stuck here until someone has mercy on us and clears the roads.  Actually, our neighborhood streets are passable but our driveway sure is not.  Those shrimp sound good to me!

Thank goodness for Ship's Cafe. A quick meal there might stave off the cabin fever.

Good morning Ellie,

You have really made the news! Can't believe all the snow you have gotten. Looks like we will end up with rain and cold all this week. Love your photos and sounds like Ship's Cafe deserves lots of praise!!
