Here’s a tip for sellers: beauty or price.

Let me explain.  While it’s true that the market seems to be turning around, there’s still a lot of unsold “inventory” out there.  No matter how beautiful the home or land you’d like to sell, and no matter how great the location, you’re still competing with a lot of other properties.

You’re attached to your house; to you it’s a home.  But potential buyers haven’t yet learned to love it the same way you do.  They’ll compare it more dispassionately against dozens of other listings.  If they’re looking for property anywhere in Northwestern Wisconsin, they could be comparing yours against literally hundreds of other possibilities.

How can you make yours stand out?  Two ways.  Beauty or price.  If your home doesn’t already look great, maybe some minor improvements can bring it there.  I may be able to offer some suggestions.

All homes, just like all the children in Lake Wobegon, are “above average.”  But if your home may not make it much beyond the “above average” category, and if you need to sell it in the near future, then the best way to stand out from the crowd is with a price that’s slightly below average.
