It's number 10, but it's still on the list!
This must be the time of year when major magazine's and institutions release their numbers - best places to live, best places to travel, best places for young professionals, etc. And Atlanta, Georgia - or one of its surrounding towns - is consistently mentioned!
This time it's Money Magazine's"America's Best Places to Live". They did not look at big cities, but rather the small towns that surround those big cities - the places that people look at when relocating and trying to figure out where they want to buy a home and live with their families.
According to the article: "This year we focused on smaller places, between 7,500 and 50,000 in population, that offered the best combination of economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do and a real sense of community... We made a few tweaks to our methodology adding a ranking for ethnic and racial diversity and -- with the cost of housing an issue for so many families - paying extra attention to home prices and property taxes. That meant a few expensive locales that have been on past lists slid in the rankings, while some more affordable places moved up."
Suwanee, Georgia, a suburb of sorts (but really with more of the feel of a true "hometown") of Atlanta ranked #10 on the list, after not having been ranked on last year's top 10. With more than 270 acres of green space, a newly-developed Town Center Park which includes an amphitheater, restauarants and shops, and great schools, Suwanee, Georgia, popped up on the list and for good reason!
