When people think of Arizona they often think the desert with it's 110 degree summers and beautiful 60 degree winters. My friend Mike Jones http://activerain.com/blogs/miraclemike has contributed many pictures of the beauty of the Arizona desert. The desert is where I live and I love every hot summer day (it's a dry heat) and the beautiful winters which are perfect for my veggie garden. But several times a winter my family likes to drive 3 hours northeast to the Other Arizona-to Pinetop in the White Mountains.

We are there this week, 2 weeks after the White Mountains received 51 inches of snow. There was a light dusting of new snow this morning before I took these pictures.

Hi Deanne - I have visited the Pinetop/Lakeside area - it really is beautiful!

Debi

It's also true that  AZ has the largest stand of white pine in the country!

Good Morning Deanne,

The unique topography of our western states are very often stereotyped or at least often categorized as less than it is. The elevations through out the western states as well as the entire country give our country some of the most beautiful sights in the world. We may not have an Eiffel Tower or an ancient  Coliseum, but if nature and beauty is being sought out, we rival the world for some of the very best that can be found.

Debi, We love spending time in Pinetop whatever the season.

Rob, snow is treat for us because we live in the Phoenix valley. I know too much of it causes problems. There has been many caved in roofs here in Pinetop including a firestation.

William, Well said. There is so many spectacular vistas in the western United States.

Definitely not what you expect when someone says Arizona.  Great post and great pics Deanne.  Glad you had fun. I am afraid I am in store for some winter white this week myself

Deanne - looks like Bethesda MD - we got 30 inches and have gone to pieces - another snow storm is coming in tomorrow with another 5 to 8 to 12 inches projected.  No food in the grocery store, no snow plows - UGH!

Deanne,

Thanks for the mention!  I reciprocated.  (...just like TLW taught me to do.)

I would not have thought that this could be Arizona with all of that snow.

Love the photos! The white clouds, blue sky, and bright white snow drifts are beautiful. But 51 inches!!? I can't even fathom that... So about how long does this "light dusting" take to melt. It looks pretty sunny in these photos.

Paddy, Tony Lise, Don and Lisa, We have it all in Arizona. 60 degree weather and then a short drive to snow and skiing.

Mike, Thanks for the reciprocal. Is that a work?
