Speechless Sundays: San Francisco and today's Half-Marathon

A few words are necessary--today was the Kaiser Permanente Half-Marathon in San Francisco, California. As you can see, it was a gorgeous day, and a prettier venue is hard to imagine. While about 10 of my women runners, many from the Tattersol Running Group out of Stanford, and I enjoyed the run in Golden Gate Park and along the Great Highway, my husband Gene went on a hike. (San Francisco is a hiker's paradise--hills to conquer and lots of parks scattered throughout.

Here are a couple of shots he took:

Happy runners at the start of the 1/2 marathon

hard to believe 10,000 runners were below!

Hello Lottie, Congratulations on your participation in the Marathon. It demonstrates so well your commitiment to "Walk the Talk". If we all did that a bit more, wouldn't life be so much more staisfying. Well done!

Thanks, MaryBeth. San Francisco is a marvelous city, with lots of parkland and a fabulous city in which to walk.

Trevella, we did, indeed, have a beautiful day for the run. Grand View Park is a little explored, neighborhood hill with different views from the classic San Francisco views.

David, we had a great day. It's fun doing something healthy with a group of happy, like-minded people, and raising money for a good cause, all at the same time.

Rick, I'm glad you enjoyed the new views. Hardly anyone except neighbors take in Grand View Park.

Thanks for your well wishes, Mary. The run was lots of fun, leg cramps not withstanding. Come visit San Francisco again soon!

William, thanks for your support. We had a glorious day, 10,000 happy participants, raising money for a good cause--what could be better?

Debi, the sun was surely shining yesterday--it was glorious. Today, skies are grey and a light rain has just begun to fall. I love San Francisco, too!

What a great day for a race!

I take every opportunity I can get to run in the city. I usually get a group a gals together for the Bridge to Bridge and the Nike Women's run a.k.a Run for the Tiffany. Keep me posted on any up coming races in San Francisco and keep on running.

Hi Corie,

I haven't done the Bridge to Bridge -- yet! Have you signed up for the Napa Marathon on March 7?? That will be my first road marathon. If you're going to Napa, we'll figure out a way to say hello in person!

Happy trails,

Lottie
