There seem to be two types of summer in Montana...
During the first half you can take a deep breath and fill your lungs with some clean Rocky Mountain air and enjoy. This weekend seems to be the start of the second half of summer, and I would recommend taking a little more shallow of breath.
“Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky in morning, sailor’s warning”
Unfortunately, the fire season has caused red skies morning and night, neither of which are delight! This is just the start of many hazy days to come I'm afraid. Although we have some minor fires burning due to the cause of some dry evening thunderstorms, we are caught in a Northeasterly flow, meaning we are receiving the smoke from Northern CA, Oregon, and Idaho among others.
If it's this bad here, my condolences to those who are experiencing the smoke closer to the source! It's seems a bit premature this early in the summer, so hoping we get a blast of rain to cool the spots, but the forecast isn't calling for much.
Here's my mobile phone picture snapshot from the fiery sun over Flathead Lake this morning at 6:30am.
Hope it clears soon and best of luck to those of you in the same boat :) Remember your fire safely rules!!
