Arizona has been hard hit by the current economic crisis and is  among the top states for the number of foreclosures. Tempe, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley have seen the least home value drops throughout the Phoenix metro area. That is not to say that we have not seen home values fall.  It might be time to rethink about our homes not as investments but as homes that provide us a safe place. After all, when we upgrade our homes we don't do the same level of upgrades that we would do to a rental investment. We pick what we like to live with and usually pay a bit more for it. If you like investing in real estate the potential is there, especially with the bank owned properties that are priced very low. But keep in mind that your primary residence is your home and it should be affordable and fit your lifestyle. It may be a while before we make money on our homes but the situation is not as stressful if you think about how much you love the home you are in!
