Thankfully most times there's more than one way to accomplish a task. When it comes to increasing your web presence there's a paid way and a free way.
If you have the money but don't have the time or the interest you can have your website automatically submitted to search engines via websites like Traffic Blazer. Now you can even automatically have your profile submitted to local search engines. But if you're anything like me you'll enjoy doing most of the footwork yourself so these are a few tips that will help you along the way.
- Google keywords that potential customer may use. Based on the results there may be directories or web pages you want to be listed on.
- Before you decide to pay to be listed anywhere find out their Alexa rating. You don't want to regret spending money on a site that doesn't have significant web traffic.

- Perform an Alexa search on your competition. What you're looking for here is what sites are linking to their site. You may discover new web resources that will help you build your business.
- List your business with InfoUSA. I've discovered that quite a few online directories are listing information contained in their database.
- This Google search produced a number of helpful links but the one I liked the most is from Locally Type. They have created a guide to help you get listed on major local search engines, yellow page sites, and social networks.
I hope you find these resources as helpful as I have. Here's to your success on the web!
