mark twainYep.  This is my 100th post.  I had intended upon writing a mortgage-related post today, but another ActiveRainer told me that I should acknowledge the 100th post "blogging milestone".  (I figured I would put Mark Twain's picture up as he once famously opined about statistics himself.)

I also realized that in the past month, I've been asked to write a MeMe twice and it had completely slipped my mind, until today.  A MeMe should be appropriate for my 100th post, right?

Scott Parsons "tagged" me and so did Marchel Peterson.  To both of you:  I am so, so sorry that this has taken me so long.  I really am.

From what I understand, I am just supposed to write five things about myself, so here goes:

1.  I have been married to my husband for 6 years and almost exactly 2 months.  I met Michael when I was getting my undergraduate degree.  I was a freshman and eighteen years old at the time.  We were both in business school, but Michael had also attended culinary school.  He won me over with his pots-and-pans skills.  Of course, I never did learn how to cook.

2.  I got into the mortgage business by mistake.  I had a totally different career path in mind.  For those of you that read my blog, you won't be surprised to know that I was anticipating a computer-related career.  Work opportunities were few when I needed work most, so I thought I would do something that (I had heard) paid well.  Now, I couldn't imagine doing anything else but brokering home loans.

3.  I am in the process of starting a non-profit.  I have a corporation called SOMAD, Inc. and it stands for "Save Our Mothers and Daughters."  It is a breast cancer charity and is incorporated as a non-profit.  Setting up the corporation was the easy part, but actually getting our official non-profit go-ahead from the IRS is taking quite a bit longer.  I certainly anticipate being up and running by the beginning of fiscal '08.  (Fingers crossed!)

4.  I was born-and-raised just outside of Detroit, MI -- in a little suburb called Sterling Heights.  I graduated high school in 1993.  My name was Karen Blodgett back then.  (I thought I would throw that in, just in case one of my old classmates Google's "Karen Blodgett"- they just might find this post!)

5.  I'm half-Greek (the good half) and my middle name is Olga.  I used to avoid telling people my middle name at all costs.  I was really embarrassed about it.  When people would ask, I would respond that the "O stands for Omnipotent."  Now, Olga's actually become my nickname.  My husband and all of my friends tend to refer to me as "Olga."  It was my (recently passed) Grandmother's name and she was a wonderful lady.  I'm happy to take her name, even if people do crinkle their noses at "Olga."

Okay, so now I name three people right?  How about-

Thanks for reading!  I'll contact the above three ladies via email.

Karen... congrats on your 100th post and thanks for sharing that information with us.

In regards to cooking, does meatballs and spaghetti count?  Even if the sauce is out of the jar?  lol  My brother-in-law went to school for culinary but works for Microsoft. Go figure... lol

Karen I had to teach my husband to make orange juice from a can! But he makes up for that in other ways. I was born in Midland MI. Great meme!

Karen - Congratulation on your 100th post, we have certainly great benefited from the information you so generously shared.  Sometimes I wish my husband would cook, he did cook for me when we were dating, he married me I no longer can identify a stove was.  I suppose it is all my fault for being a good cook.

Karen Congratulations on your 100th, I think that is great what you are doing with SOMAD, Inc.  My husband does most of the cooking because he gets home first! LOL  He is pretty good at it!

Karen - there should be a limit on the number of times the same person gets Memed - this is my third, so I'll try and find another 5 things but then I'm calling it quits. And since I've already tagged more than my share, I think I'll just Meme one more. Congratulations!

Congrats on your 100th... It's nice to know more about my active rain superstar... I think most people probably got into the Mortgage business by mistake. Can you even take Loan officer Classes in college? :) have a great day!

Hey Sharon-- I agree!  You want me to take your name down and pick somebody else?  I mean, I'm sure you do, but just let me know.  No hard feelings at all.  (You get out of it, but you still have my "thought that counts".)

Karen, Congratulations on your 100th post, I think mine went by recently and I didn't post about it....too busy posting on other things (yes, I have the AR addiction!).  And I think your efforts for the non profit organization are going to be a great benefit to everyone.  Once you get the designation, go out and go to the stores for supplies; sometimes you have to drag it out of them but some come through for the things you will need to get it up and running to where you want.

I only know this because I did a project for a non profit and made my rounds of the stores to get them whatever I could to help.  And notify the press, many people like to write about these things and will help to get the name out there.

And now after my non profit lecture, I have already been MeMed---twice :)  But I thank you for the thought!  I'm under the MeMe group somewhere.  That is one difficult post to write.  And again, thank you for thinking of me.

You are all very sweet and kind to post comments here!  I didn't think I would get any comments at all and so far I've got 25.

I really appreciate it.  It's nice to know that people are reading my blog and thoughtful enough to comment.

Thank you all!

And Carole-- thank you for the advice.  I actually know nothing about running a non-profit, but I have a mission statement and a certain business plan.  However, I would've never thought about hustling for supplies.  Thank you!

Congrats on the 100th post!  I think that you are, if not the best,  one of the best writers on here.  I've taken your advice on the SEO and it's starting to work.  I'm getting at least one contact a week from my web site and I'm not even done with it!

Karen,

Congratulations, not only on your 100th, but those 100 posts were all great informative and helpful posts! I was really surprised you are so young since you have done so much and are into so many things. Guess cooking isn't one of them but hey, you don't have to with that hubby.

Karen,

What a great meme, but what else should we expect!

SOMAD is SOCOOL!!!  Good Luck with it!

Olga is a beautiful name!  Don't let anyone tell you differently!

Thanks for opening your window for us to look in!

I just listed your meme in my alphabetical meme list.  Check it out when you get a chance.

Thanks,

Olga! (I'm saying that fondly). My grandma's name was Henrietta (not my middle name, but I wish it was, I love her so). I was hoping you would say what your birthday is too, since we're the same age, I thought we could have birthdays around the same time (mine's March 27). My fiance also cooks for me (if he didn't cook, we wouldn't eat!) Congratulations on your 100th post....I'm working my way backwards, so I guess that means that I have A LOT of reading ahead of me. I'm looking forward to it.
