Noooo it doesn't really snow much in Northern Virginia.
If it did, our leaders would have moved the capitol of the US from DC to coastal North Carolina years ago.
(Washington DC is a suburb of Northern Virginia)
So, if you just found out that you were being transferred here...do not worry.
We have lived here 30 years and I do not own snow boots or gloves. My wife of course does have snow boots which she proudly put on for the first time in 10 years...to walk in the driveway that I had already cleared. She did not need the boots...but they did look cute.
There is an old song by Albert Hammond that came to mind. "It never rains in southern California" It's tough to dance to.
"Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl don't they warn ya
It pours, man it pours"
You can see Albert sing this song right here. Finish reading the blog post first though before you transport yourself to the 1970s.
We rarely have a white Christmas, much to the dismay of children and I have mowed the yard on January 1 before, just to say I did and for the entertainment of my neighbors.
So, come on....MOVE here happily without trepidation. Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties are great places to live and our unemployment is half the national average.
If you need help looking about the place, no need to wander aimlessly searching for a real estate agent by looking at yard signs. You might not enjoy some of the people on the other side of those signs.
Drop us a line before you get here and we will get you up to speed on all your housing options. We are knowledgeable, experienced and enjoyable (so we've heard).
