Don't you hate it when you hear old curmudgeons complaining about "Kids these days". They go on and on how as children they were so wonderful, hard working, polite, etc. "Kids nowadays can never measure up." Of course, just as with all news, the only young people we hear about on the news are the ones that commit crimes or get in trouble.
Well, here's a story of an exemplary young woman who is just one of many "good kids" in Apex who is giving up her time to raise money for the local Red Cross.
As I wrote last week in my blog about her Red Cross fundraiser, Christine Schulze is a student at Apex High School who is on a mission to raise the most money for the local Red Cross and be named "Queen of Hearts".
This past Saturday, with the help of Deena Boos, a local Stampin Up demonstrator, they organized a "Stampin' Stack" party. Each participant got to make 10 cards, which Deena had designed and provided the materials for. Donations were $20/person.
The event was held in the new upstairs banquet room of Anna's Pizzeria on Salem St. in Apex. It's a lovely room that with plenty of old town atmosphere, tables and seating for about 40 people, and a bar and food service from Anna's downstairs. (yummm!)
According to Deena, almost $300 was raised at this event, with all donations going to help people in need locally.
Christine is also holding a raffle for this beautiful basket of goodies valued at over $600 that were generously donated by local merchants in Apex. Raffle tickets are $5 each, with the drawing to be held at the end of February. If you'd like to enter, there's still time! Email Christine at christineschulze@nc.rr.com or visit the "All Booked Up" book store on Salem St. in Apex to see the basket and buy a ticket.
