When the call went out, it was Hoped that at least 2,500 Metro-area Tutors would be willing to step up and help our failing Detroit Public Schools.

On these pages, you can read all the names of these great citizens.
Congratulations to the Detroit Free Press, and The DPS [Detroit Public Schools] initiated this 'call to action'.
No one knew just what would happen.
We had the usual naysayers; we had the detractors questioning the effectiveness of non-teacher tutors; we had the snickers,, guffaws, & out right disagreement floating around....
.....Well, to all I say "How's that [position] working out for you NOW?"
This is the Michigan we have come to learn about. the Michigan we have grown to love; the Michigan that is limping around right now, but the Michigan we believe will survive.
Have you read or heard about the younger of us, who are coming up with novel ideas of how to raise money for Haiti & local charities, AND who had the vision to see it through.
Did you see that Local 4 had a fantastic call-in response for Haiti?
Can you name the other individuals and groups--both private & public figures who have joined together to get the word out that: "Michigan is here for it's residents & for other's in need."
All-in-all, this is a great state in which to live;
...even with the mess-up our elected officials sometime cause
...even with the frightening attempt to destroy the Detroit Bid Three
...even with the high foreclosures in some areas
...even when we read notices of graft & schemes to defraud
...even when our Sports Teams have some really BAD Years.
Michigan is a good place to put down roots--though you may want to wait for Spring--LOL; it can be a good area for the new young business people--we are still offering some help to entrepreneurs; it does have some very good Universities & Colleges in the Metro area as well as throughout the two Peninsulas. We also are home to the Otsego Park--where one of the few snowboard practice / performance 'snow-ramps' exist; Olympic snow boarders from around the world come here to practice; certain days of the week are open to armature snow-boarders. It takes 4Million cubic feet of snow [actual & produced] to create this 'ramp'; along with the fantastic 'monster' machine designed to sculpt the 'ramp' to perfection. Yea! Otsego, Michigan
Though I have been talking about our move to a SE State- we are still in those plans-the cold has gotten to these old bones--we have lived, both of us, most of our years of our lives here, in Michigan.
This is a new flag design-in-the-round of the State of Michigan flag.
