I leave in the morning on another road trip. Those of you who know me will know how much I love these trips. I have gathered seriously warm gear because if the sun is out....I intend to have the convertible top down. As I like to do....I will blog along the way so you will be right there with me.

This trip my first stop is Monument Valley at the new View Hotel. I've been there for lunch last fall....but this time I intend to hang on the balcony with a glass of wine, my best friend, and the view. The hotel has 3 stories and each room faces the incredible red rock formations. Can't wait!

Night two is Durango, CO.....great western town. My friend has never been to either of these spots...so I get to play tour guide. We will be staying in the Historic Strater Hotel. The hotel was established in 1887 to service the silver miners and entrepreneurs. It gradually evolved with the city itself into a tourist destination.

From there will will go to Santa Fe, New Mexico. All roads lead to Santa Fe!!! At least for me! We are splurging on the Inn at Loretto next door to the Loretto Chapel (with it's miracle staircase). We will stay there for 3 nights to shop and eat!! We are expecting a bit of snow so that should be beautiful.

On a side note....my husband and I are seriously planning a move to Santa Fe. I had been getting drip emails from an agent there. I responded and asked for some time and different listings. I never heard back. I sent this request weeks in advance and multiple times. So I guess he doesn't really make good use of the lead generation system. Unbelievable.!

Once we are forced to leave Santa Fe....we'll see where we head from there. We have options as we work our way to the West Coast....so I'll let you know when I know.

So 5am comes early.....talk to you tomorrow.

Karen:  Have fun and keep tuned into local weather forecasts.   I've driven across the country numerous times during winter and storms can come out of nowhere in the blink of an eye.  Have been snowbound in some pretty funky motels.

Karen, sounds like a great trip, Monument Valley is spectacular!  I haven't been all the way to Durango, but that part of Colorado is unbelievable, as is New Mexico!  Have fun!

Sounds like a wonderful adventure.  Got to say, though, that I'd be taking it just about anytime but winter.

Karen road trips are great but much better if you don't have the reservations and find the spots along the way. Enjoy.

Sounds like your going to have a great time. I bet it will be much colder in Colorado than Cali.. Good thing your packing for the cold!
