Living in Kealakekua, South Kona, Hawaii

Living up Mauka, what beautiful place.

As you head out of Kona and start your drive home to Kealakekua, the first thing you notice is the drop in temperature, it can easily drop 5-10 degrees, and more at night time. Even though I never actually lived in Kealakekua, I lived next door in Captain Cook. I remember when my wife was pregnant, she would drive up there to get out of the Kona heat, along with the drop in temperature comes lush foliage, what you expect from Hawaii. I remember the drive through Kealakekua was always an adventure - it seems like every month had a different fruit ripening - it seems like one month you would be dodging Avocados on the road, the next month it was Mango's, the next month it was Guava, the next month Lilikoi, nest month was Lychee's, and of course the world famous Kona Coffee beans turning red on the trees. Don't forget December, you have many yards along drive planted in Poinsettia - entire front yards that turn red!

My phone is ringing again - I will get back to you soon

Aloha and have a great day
