BEING THE PERSON WHO Has the energy to give...

By
Education & Training with Advantage Solutions Group

I know you know this......You have to take care of yourself FIRST!!!! ALWAYS. You can only give to others in proportion to what you have. If you are tired, scared, frantic or beat up...you don't have much to offer the people you want to serve. And, even though you know this, why do I keep talking with people who are making half as much working twice as hard and are just plain tired?.....Why is it so hard to stop and re-center, focus and begin in the beginning? And that beginning is to nurture and love you.

Yes, it may sound selfish and that's what I want you to claim in 2010-

Extreme Selfishness (as in SELF CARE)  in taking care of YOUR NEEDS.

I have enjoyed and learned from the books and recordings I have of Esther & Jerry Hicks and the teachings of Abraham-where the recent Law of Attraction work all started. I read their latest book, The Vortex: Where the Law of Attraction Assembles All Cooperative Relationships, on our Hawaiian vacation. It was so calming to sit on the beach and think about where and what I was resisting in my life and see how to let go, so the resistance didn't distract me or get me stuck from getting the things I REALLY want.

Here is a quote from Abraham's Teachings, "Your greatest value to others is when you are joyful. Your greatest value to others is when you are connected. Your greatest value to others is to be radiantly healthy. Your greatest value to others is when you are happy. Your greatest value to others is to have and to be and do all the things that are very important to you. And as you are living that and vibrating that and oozing that and radiating that - then you are a catalyst that is inspiring others to an awareness of that." Abraham-Hicks

Isn't that wonderful? Can you take it in? Your job is to take care of YOU...so you can serve the people in your life you want to serve.

Here are a few ways to take better care of yourself:

  • Take at least one full day off each week
  • Schedule the time for vacations whether it's a staycation or a trip around the world!
  • Put regular appointments on your calendar for the things that nourish you: watching the sunset, reading, massages, getting together with people you love, playing tennis, golf....OK, hopefully you get the idea.
  • Ask others to help you!
  • Give up things that don't give you joy anymore
  • Take up a centering practice: mediatation, yoga, exercise
  • Eat well
  • Stop habits that numb you or injure you
  • Start and end each day with an awareness of what you DO have and what you are grateful for

You are the most valuable asset to your business (and your life!). If your life is not calm and happy most of the time, stop and see what you can do. IT IS UP TO YOU!!!!!!

Helping make your real estate dreams a reality

Hi Joeann -- I couldn't agree with you more.I know from reading many of your blogs here and articles on Broker-Agent News that you are a firm believer of "sharpening the saw" as Steven Covey says so eloquently.

When I first became acquainted with the coaching of Richard Robbins International, the reason his program resonated with me was that it addressed the whole person. I learned to book my vacations, quarterly weekend get-aways with my husband, add my fitness routines into my calendar, all well in advance.

I can take better care of my clients and others when I'm happy, healthy and calm. Plus--life is a whole lot more fun!

"Give up things that don't give you joy anymore". . .

Does that mean I get to give up the cooking and cleaning?  ;)

Great post, Joeanne!!  Great reminder that I need to take off my SuperWoman cape every once in a while.

Joeann,

The book cover looks inviting to me.  Living so close to Sedona where there are supposed to be  vorti? vortexes? anyway electrical vortex locations...I will put that book on my list and get to reading.  Sounds like it all starts inside your own internal vortex.  Balance is what we are all looking for and your post is a great reminder.

Hi Lottie, I haven't heard of them but would whole agree with the wisdom of planning like that!

Hi Michelle...Of course it does! Or, perhaps think of ways that someone else could do some of it or help you!

Carra-It's a great book! An it is talking about your INTERNAL vortex-being aligned with all that supports you being who you really are! How much better does it get than that? But you know something about that!

I'm adding it to my reading list.  Maybe I'll take it along on that 2-week vacation I just booked--I'm finally getting the hang of this taking care of myself and I like it!

Joeann, in my 'past life' I did spiritual counseling (I am a trained astrologer) and one of the HUGEST issues we dealt with with our clients was 'energy vampires'--usually family members.  But it was always a revelation to find out that WE can be our own greatest soul-sapper. Many people feel that they don't deserve to place themselves first--that it's selfish. But a fuel tank on empty would not power any vehicle . . .

John  I know what you mean and it may be less about figuring it out and more about noticing where the synchonicity and flow does exist and going with it! Don't be waiting to have it be wonderful. Have what you've got right now be wonderful!

Norma Hope your vacation is wonderful! I just read The Vortex while in Hawaii for a week and made the decision that we'll start spending 6 months a year there!

Candice Love the fuel tank analogy! Thanks for your other insights! Love heasring from you

I loved your comment about scheduling "me time" into our calendars. I think that is so vital. I write down my appointments, and that is what stands out in my mind when I wake up that day. But if I schedule watching a sunset, or relaxing in a long bath, I might make it a point to keep that appointment with myself. Thoughts to ponder! Thanks!
