I’ve never been an enthusiastic proponent of laminate products. But, they do have a place in the market where hardwood and carpet is not is a realistic choice.
Last month I had the pleasure of working with clients who budgeted to make appropriate and reasonable changes in a home to be sold. As it turned out, I volunteered to be involved in the updating process and was very excited to do so.
My clients already had a competent contractor and we examined the home and determined, a wall-to-wall carpet in the living room needed to be removed and the kitchen, powder room and utility room flooring were all different on the main. I suggested that the entire main floor be covered with a laminate instead of multi surfaces and went into a research mode to find something light colored that did not look like most of the laminates I have seen and disliked.
With the help of their contractor, I discovered a wonderful brand, Shaw Laminates. There were several books of different wood styles and the choices were much more what I had in my mind’s eye. I found at least two that I liked very much and proceeded to decide the right one choice based on a paint that would complement the new flooring. It was reasonably priced and on sale as well!
The end result was gratifying. Now, this home looks more expansive and is attractive with easy to care for flooring that will serve well young professionals or a busy family with children. In other words, it looked “hip” instead of blah.
I highly recommend the Shaw Laminates to anyone considering a laminate product for an update for their home!
