Our community of Brea is unique in many ways. We have a small town feeling, yet with bigger city benefits. Week-days we normally have over 100,000 people who work and live in our city. Yet the resident population is 39,000-40,000. We have a strong econom Brea Down Townic base within our business community, take a look at Brea-Means-Business as an example.

Brea is also known for excellence in education. The Brea-Olinda School district is well know for outstanding schools. Many of our schools have been recognized nationally as  National Blue Ribbon school. The state-of-the-art Brea-Olinda High School is a "Distinguished School" for 2007.

Folks come to Brea from the surrounding communities to shop till they drop. The Brea Mall is the second highest in Orange County for generating revenue. We also have a newer downtown areas for entertainment and fun. The Birch Street Promenade is a wonderful pedestrian area for the movies, restaurants and outdoor entertainment. As for living downtown, check out the colorful   lofts built over the commercial businesses.

Brea is also known as a community of the arts. The  Art-In-Public Places supports over 130 objects of art beautifully enriching  the city. Brea's own Art Gallery is home to traveling exhibits on display. Located at the Civic Center, our Curtis Theatre plays host to live productions with a close-up feeling. Check out the 2008 season line up at Curtain Up in Brea.

Lynda,

What great memories your blog stirred in me.  My very first job was at the Brea Mall.  I lived in Yorba Linda at the time.  Very well put together.  Thank you for the flash back.  be blessed.

Hi Shannon,

So nice hearing from you, so how long ago did you leve the OC? My daughter also worked at the Brea Mall some time back. It's a really neat mall, just about the right size for almost anything you could want.

Thanks for the visit and commenting.

Lynda this is a great post about Brea.  I really like those areas that keep the feel of a small town while still having the benefits of a larger city.  If this is one of the top five cities in the West, I definitely need to put it on my list of places to see!

Hey Thom,

I miss good ole' Brea too! You know the days when Brea Blvd. was a little two lane road and the bar fights from Sam's Place will spill out into the street! Now those were the days!

Brea is a wonderful city to live and visit. Some of the best resturants  in the area are in Brea. If you have not enjoyed the BBQ Baby Back Ribs at Lucille's you have no idea what you are missing.

Bill ~ Thanks so much for the visit and the 5 stars! I just took a look at this and it looks a little short, not sure if I left from of it on the drawing board...hmmm, I'll need to double check.

i agree with the person who misses the "good ol' Brea". i grew up in Brea, but have relocated to Fullerton because Brea morphed into a town that is devoid of any culture that is not 'vanilla' flavored.

How many Starbucks locations does Brea have? can anyone guess?  i personally know of 3. out of curiosity i googled and found 5.

Now how many independently owned coffee houses does Brea have? anyone? anyone?

long gone are the mom and pop shops and the true "townie" feel it used to have. it now looks just like any other upper-scale 'burb.... a mini Irvine, perhaps. which is fine, if you like vanilla.
