I have encountered several websites recently that tell me that home builders are faced with the dilemma of the buyers desire for larger garages but that lots to build homes on are more likely to be smaller now than they were in the past.

If homes stay the same size, garages get bigger, but lots get smaller, homes have to go upward.  Are you seeing more 2 or 3 story homes being built?

Something has to give, to get more and more onto a smaller and smaller space.

Have you noticed any trends in building sizes in your area or maybe a trend to more 2 story homes?

More 2 story homes are being built now than were in the past.  You can put bigger homes and bigger garages on the same size land as before.  This trend will make it harder for the older homes to sell due to the fact these are things that the seller cannot change to make the home more appealing.

Yes, we see it here too.  This has been an issue for several years.  If your wanting a bigger garage then it will cost you more, because you will have to purchase a bigger lot, ouch, that hurts the pocket book.
