So much less eventful....well at least we got the right kind of gas in the car. Yeah! Monument Valley was so beautiful and we woke up to watch the sun rise over the formations. There was a mist of fog wisping in and out and over the Valley...eerie and wonderful. The strip of sunrise was off in the distance and we could see that the red clifts glistened in the distance.

We took off after a quick breakfast and headed north and east. We landed in Durango this evening. Our "token" western town. The drive there was great! There is no way to really discribe the beauty, so I will get you pictures. But it was a drive of bright red rocks and formations accented with bright white snow. We drove through Mexican Hat, Utah...named for the rock that looks like a Mexican Hat. Then through Bluff and on into Durango.

Once we unloaded our car and got settled....we left to wander around town. First stop was a snack and glass of wine by the train station. Cindy wanted a picture of the train and train tracks, but we forgot. Oops....that's kind of a theme for this trip "oops." We wandered in and out of stores. In one we found some turquoise and coral jewelry that was made on the Dali Lama's property. The stones were found and turned into jewelry. So I bought a huge ring for me and a great pendant for Cindy...this is her birthday trip. We have worn them non-stop and look fabulous in them.

Dinner was at Cosmopolitan on Main Street. An upscale contemporary restaurant (hence aptly named). I had a warm beet salad that was so delicious I could have ordered it for dessert too. End of another great day.....Good day to be us. We have some funny videos...if I can figure it out, I might post that too.

Yes....we are having a blast. And we are using the red nozzle which is premium not the green nozzle which is diesel. Green means stop, red means go.

Hey Karen - Will you be going thru Mesa Verde? An awesome National Park out that way, full of the most amazing history. Can't wait for you to start posting PHOTOS! Tell Cindy to get on it... LOL
