Was very surprised to receive a Wachovia assignment where they asked me to reach out to a borrower to list their home for a preapproved short sale. They even have a cash incentive for the seller. The problem is that the bank isnt having any luck locating them nor am I. I think they made their offer for a short sale too late in the process. However, I am excited and hope more banks consider this route early on with borrowers.

I had heard Wachovia was leading the pack with their preapproved short sale program. Sounds exciting and I hope more lenders will follow!

I had a similar assignment. The bank said the seller was aware of this and I wouldn't be cold calling. I called and the seller was shocked. According to him he was given the impression his loan mod was going through. The Bank proactive short sale telephone conference said that this program was the next step after the seller has been turned down for their loan mod. It's a good idea but the sellers have to be on board not surprised.
