Reality Series On Green Building

By

I just saw this in Grist.  Leonardo DiCaprio is producing a show about the green rebuilding of a town.  Greensburg, Kansas was wiped out by a tornado last May.

It was unclear to me where the funding to build green was coming from.  Has anyone else heard about this?  I am sure the insurance companies wouldn't cover the extra cost of rebuilding green.

Hopefully this will turn the public's eye to green building.  What a great opportunity to get the word out!  I hope they have sense enough to be respectful of the town's loss or there could be backlash.

Jenny, I don't know exactly what is going on with the reality TV show or perhaps it happened.  There is an article in the Kansas City Business Journal's Going Green section this week that tells about the plans that Greensburg has for eco-tourism and a green community.  For celeb activity, reportedly GOOGLE is considering construction of a wind powered data center at Greensburg.

This is a wonderful plan.  Beyond green, as a resident of a small midwestern community, I am impressed about the heart, planning and positive attitude that is often present, but not active there.  There is more of my rant in my KCMetroRealEstateBlog.com
