I just returned from the WCR Wealth Building Conference in Newport Beach. It was a First Class event that was fun, informative and provided information for business as well as personal growth. What could be better?

Here are some highlights:

DAY ONE: The PMN Class "The Business of your Business:People,Planning, Money & Management" with Terry Watson as the instructor got rave reviews. I didn't attend this one, but it is one I teach, so I know how good the material is. As a matter of fact, if you haven't taken the class, and want to do some great networking as well as work on your PMN, I am teaching it  on October 12 in Casa Grande AZ (halfway between Tucson & Phoenix). Would love to have you attend. Email me if you'd like to register.

DAY TWO After a full breakfast and plenty of time for networking, Chris Bird started a full day of sessions with his "Effective Money Management for Today's REALTOR®" As always, Chris is on top of the ways we can run our businesses more profitably. He spoke of the different corporate structures and which apply depending on how much you are making. He also spoke of Health Savings Plans. This is something I plan to do this summer! The full handout is here

Cliff Perrotti followed with "The Entrepreneur's Mindset: THIS is How to Build Your Business." He reminded everyone how import PASSION is in building the business, along with a big vision. He said,"results correlate to the clarity of your vision." I couldn't have said it better myself!

Lunch provided more great networking time and a wonderful keynote by the WCR National President Judy Moses  Judy is the epitome of a great leader. As a working broker-owner, she is in the trenches and has a huge commitment to give back by empowering others! She shared great success tips in her keynote.

The afternoon was filled with choices. There were 3 breakout sessions, each lasting 45 minutes, with 3 choices each session. Literally, something for everyone! I was honored to facilitate 2 sessions with Tech Guru, Matthew Ferrara. What fun to have a virtual presentation, demonstrating the way things have changed! We had packed sessions on Wireless Technology and Blogging. My favorite tip from Matthew was that you can do a Google search by text and get information sent right back to your cell phone. Just text to Google( 466453) and type in something like "weather in Tucson" or "pizza 85741" and you'll be texted back immediately. How cool is that?

Saturday evening allowed some free time to go shopping or to the beach and hang out and network! I had a great walk on the beach and dinner with the fabulous Michele Martineau. She is an amazing woman who has been helping me fine-tune my vision and marketing that is congruent with it! She is brilliant.

DAY THREE Began with another full breakfast and lots of networking time.

Ginita Wall presented a thought provoking session entitled, "A Man is Not A Plan: Why it pays for Women to Master Their Personal Finances." This woman has a very big vision to empower women in their finances and gave us more ways we can be financially successful and be able to retire comfortably! She encouraged us to start what she calls Money Clubs

Jim DeLizia of DeLizia Consulting, Inc. the led everyone through a session, "Where It all Comes Together". This was a brilliant piece. So many times, we leave a conference with our heads full of good ideas, but with no structure to pull it together. The conference started with a form to set goals and capture ideas, set people up with accountability partners and finished with Jim leading everyone through the steps to be in action. Simply Outstanding!!!!

The Closing Lunch featured keynote Kathy Spillar of Ms. Magazine and Feminist Majority Foundation with a presentation called "A Place At The Table." She shared why it is important for the world for women to have equality in leadership. She made a compelling case based on the current statistics. While we've come a long way, it is clear we have a long way to go.

Whew.....as you can see it was a densely packed few days. I thought you'd enjoy the overview. Perhaps go check out some of the speakers. But, mostly, if you weren't there or don't regularly attend National Meetings, consider going. In a couple of weeks, Inman Connect is happening in San Francisco and, of course, the NAR Convention in November in Las Vegas. These events will stretch your thinking, give you solid networking opportunities and you'll have fun in the process. If you can't go to a conference, give some thought to traveling to take a Class to get a designation like PMN, SRES, CRS or ABR. You'll be glad you did.
