While the majority of the US is hit by blizzards, we are having showers, sun breaks, and 50 degree weather. I have been watching the news and speaking with several of friends scattered around the US. Some of them have been snowed in for a while now and have gotten several feet of snow in just a few days! I hope that you will take a minute to visualize yourself in a warmer place! Here are some photos to get you started! Stay warm and safe everyone!! :)
These were taken in Kihei Maui Hawaii
This is Barnacle Bill. We named him after swimming with him for a month. I followed him to this patch of coral where I dove down about 15 feet to get this picture. I don't have any good underwater gear yet, but when I do...
This turtle swam in a straight line right at me. I realized when he was about 5 feet from me that he was not going to move and that if I didn't want to get run over by this enormous turtle... I had better move fast!!! Just as I pushed myself backwards in the water, he was next to me. Literally withing 6 inches of me. As he swam by my face, he turned his face and looked me right in the eyes!! His eyes were 2 inches from mine! In my head I was repeating to myself, "Don't bite me, Don't bite me..."! I was so shocked that I forgot about my camera until he started to swim past me! I wish that I had a picture of us face to face! That is something I will never forget!!
I love the way the water has so many different colors.
This is the rim of the crater of Haleakala.
I have posted this photo once before. It is one of my favorites. This is directly in front of my Mother's home in Maui. Her back yard is the beach. Yes, I could live like that!!!
You can walk down into the crater along the right side where the black line meets the rise of the crater lip by the red clay dirt. It is quite an amazing sight to see in person.
I took these 1 day after the tsunami. The waves were 6 to 10 feet tall. About a month ago the waves were 50 feet tall and they had to shut this beach down. It was crazy! This is one of my favorite surfing holes! Great waves and lots of sun!
I hope you are all feeling a bit warmer now!
