What's going on in Florida?

I'm in a bit of trouble, and it's over something I simply can't control. My wife and I didn't get a holiday last year, so we looked at the Canadian winter outside our windows and I promised to take her south for a couple of weeks. We're leaving on Monday and hope to be in Kissimmee late Tuesday night.

But the weather forcast for Kissimmee on Tuesday is a high of 57 F and a low of 37 F. Much better than here, of course, but not the sort of poolside weather we were hoping for. I have already heard from my sister who is down there and her message was, "Bring sweaters!"

So, I'm sure things will improve during our stay, but this makes remember a funny incident at our local hardware store. The owner and I were talking as an older gentleman came through the door and stamped the snow off his boots.

"Can I help you find something?" said the owner.

"Sure ... what do you have that will cause a bit of global warming?"

Oh come on Bob. Haven't you heard of the polar bear club. You know, the one where they jump into the icy lake every year. It is hard to believe that it is Florida this year, but with all the global warming and everything, I guess anything is possible.

Have fun on your trip.

At the risk of not being ientified as a true Canadian, I must say that polar bear dipping has no appeal for me.

Bob I sure hope you get that poolside weather.  This winter the weather has been more unpredictable in the most unusual places.

Hi there Belleville Bob, just remember even though its only 57 or so in Kissimmee the sun will be shining brightly and you and your wife will be on holidays, it doesn't get any better than that!

Hello Bob,

Just because it is only 57 degrees now, it will be 70 degrees soon, and you can still get a very nice tan at 70 degrees.

Hope you enjoy your stay here in Central Florida, and even with the cool temps the fish are still biting!!!  Kissimmee is world famous for bass fishing!!!
